EXPOSURE AND FIELD VISIT FOR PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION

An IIC Calendar Driven Activity named “Exposure and Field Visit for Problem Identification” was conducted in association with the Community Medicine Department, Central Research Facility and Santosh Startup Forum. The students went to Dasna Village, Ghaziabad where they discussed the problems that people are facing and guided them with all possible solutions to their problems.The objective of the activity was Problem Identification along with understanding and solving the problems of the society. The activity also focused on bringing out and motivating the startups that might create change for good in the society.

1. The activity started at 09:00 am when the students went to the site finalised for the field visit i.e., Dasna Village, Ghaziabad.

2. On the entrance students were explained the basic rules and regulations that were to be followed while interacting with people and discussing their problems and find a possible solution for their issues.

3. The students first met the locals of Dasna Village. They interacted with the villagers and found that sanitation and transportation were two major issues in the village. There they met a lady who was facing issues with transport as she had to take her 5-year-old son to hospital due to severe burns on his hand. She was waiting for hours for transport to reach the hospital. The students took her to the nearest hospital where they realised that the hospital had very poor sanitation.

4. The students then met the Sarpanch of Dasna Village and had a discussion with him regarding these issues where they reached a conclusion that the Sarpanch will put forward the request for more Government transportation in the village as well as hospitals with poor sanitation will be provided with necessary equipment and budget for their maintenance.

5. The activity was concluded by 12:00 pm.

The activity helped the students to under the grassroot problems faced by rural India and how to integrate their learning to find a sustainable solution for them. It also helped in developing communication and problem solving skills.
